About The Jefferson Theater
Located on the Downtown Mall in the heart of Charlottesville, The Jefferson is the region's oldest theater. Nearly a century old, the proscenium theater has survived remarkably well since it opened in 1911. The Jefferson originally showed silent movies and vaudeville acts, and legends such as Harry Houdini and The Three Stooges performed on its stage. Starr Hill Presents has restored this beautiful structure into the premier nightclub in central Virginia and hosts over 100 events per year.
